Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great but audio sometimes doesn't work

*Update of the month below, added a star to the overall rating so five stars day two with it and it works great! Zero (or very little) latency and pretty good quality. I use it for my Switch as it's the only console I have as I mostly play on my PC and have enjoyed using it while playing the new Monster Hunter. I was actually going to wait a while before reviewing, but thought I'd point out an issue I'm already having. Sound on the map just doesn't work sometimes. I'm not sure if it's an issue with the cable that came with it or the capture card itself. At the beginning of the second day, I turned on my computer and got ready to use the capture card, but to my annoyance, no sound came from the card. Okay, I thought the HDMI cables might have shifted (they fit the card snugly, but that was my first thought) and I made sure they were ok. Still no sound. After a while I realized that these are not HDMI cables, but a USB cable. I've never had a problem with this particular USB port, so I know the problem isn't with the port itself. I thought the sound issue was a one off issue, maybe the cable wasn't fully plugged in, but after a few hours I had to restart my computer and as a test I decided to check the sound on the card. and he did it again. So I had to turn it off the same way I did this morning. It's a simple matter, although a problem I'd rather not have. If it weren't for this problem, I would be completely satisfied with the card and give it 5 stars! While I recommend the card, I think it's something to keep in mind before you buy it. If I happen to have any other issues, I'll update this review! I will also mention that the site has terrible bandwidth so watching their videos is long unless you download them (which also takes a bit of time regardless of your internet). This doesn't take points away from the product itself, by the way, but I do want to mention that there's no harm in hoping the site is a speed demon for their videos. UPDATE: The USB stick must be removed. and gets inserted every time I turn off the computer and then turn it on again. I used to think this happened occasionally, but it happens every time. A tedious problem for a great capture card. UPDATE: After a month of use, the sound issue seems to have resolved itself. I decided to give it a try after a pretty stressful day, although I hadn't unplugged it and plugged it back in, and lo and behold it worked. I'm not sure how much it started to work, but in any case I'm very happy. As far as the card works for a month, the card is still working great! I would definitely recommend this without hesitation if anyone asked me about a cheaper capture card!

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
