UPDATE - Handlebars are pierced even though nickels are worn - HIGH RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY! Ends are also quite flimsy; and there are no end caps to prevent the handlebars from going through the grips and impaling a rider (lung, hip and I saw a cheek injury) in a fall. The US nickel mates perfectly with the MTB bar ends, preventing injuries from the bars piercing the grip and injuring the rider (UPDATE - went through anyway, lost a coin AND exposed the hollow ends of the bars). Spray on hairspray to give it an easy glide, then let go of the grips for at least 24 hours (the spray acts as a lubricant for easy glide, but after 24 hours it starts to act as an adhesive).
