I bought this primarily for use with my iPhone 3gs and iPod classic (4g). I was using a Monster ICarCharger 1000 prior to purchase. I was happy with it, but when it broke I looked for other options to replace it and settled on this Griffin unit. The monster lasted just over a year, let's hope this one lasts longer. I prefer it to the monster. Sound: Monster made more noise (lots of clicks from speakers when first plugged in). I was immediately surprised at how much better this unit sounded, although I never found the Monster's sound to be bad. Appearance: I don't really like the look of one on top of the other, but I like that it doesn't stand out. as far from the charging socket as the monster device. The only feature of the Monster device that tops this is the integrated cable management. I'm happy with this product, I hope it lasts a long time.
