If you don't have USB or Bluetooth audio

If you have an older car, great. Plug it into the power socket (lighter) and audio cable into Aux and your old iPod will play through the radio. Control your iPod through the device. Use it instead of a CD with a few songs or FM stations with poor sound quality. With an iPod, you can access hundreds of songs or podcasts.

Good accessory product

I bought this primarily for use with my iPhone 3gs and iPod classic (4g). I was using a Monster ICarCharger 1000 prior to purchase. I was happy with it, but when it broke I looked for other options to replace it and settled on this Griffin unit. The monster lasted just over a year, let's hope this one lasts longer. I prefer it to the monster. Sound: Monster made more noise (lots of clicks from speakers when first plugged in). I was immediately surprised at how much better this unit soundedโ€ฆ

Griffin AutoPilot Charger

I had a previous version of this charger and it worked fine with my iPod Touch, no problem. My wife got an iPhone and the old version didn't work properly, so naturally we were happy to see Griffen releasing an updated version this year. We received the first product and it broke quickly but thanks to Amazon customer service we had a new item before I sent the broken one back. The charger has been working great for the past few months, but suddenly it's causing serious radio interference if you

Works well but is noisy. :(

Turning up the volume on this unit won me over. Without it I had to turn the volume on my car radio almost all the way up (the standard system in a 2006 Scion xB) . still a bit low , but much better (Example: When listening to the radio or CD, I usually use a volume of 24-26 out of 60, I think. When listening to my iPhone, without this product's volume, I was around 50. Now, when I use my phone I keep it around 40.) It also quickly charges my iPhone 5. (Example: I can play music and the TomTomโ€ฆ

The AutoPilot charger/assistance is exactly what I wanted

UPDATE 4/25/2011: After 7 months of light use, the charger started overheating my iPod touch and completely drained the battery within minutes. Griffin was quick to respond to our concerns, although their return policy of "destroy the product, take a picture of it on a copy of this receipt email" is amusing if not a little odd. I am willing to try a replacement as we have not found any other similar product. USB, but with additional input). The device plugs into our cigarette lighter orโ€ฆ

The best chargers and adapters on the market

I've been using this device in my car for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it. The construction is solid and I'm sure it will last for years. Regarding audio, a high/low switch is hidden on the side to better adjust your car's line level. I'm using this in a Volvo S40 with a factory system and I had to leave it on "Hello" and also turn up the gain a bit so it doesn't look like a good match but it works. The buttons on the top are handy but a bit of a joke. The tone controls areโ€ฆ

An excellent device at the time of purchase, but not now

A really good device. It charges my 3G iPod Touch and gives me better sound than the headphone jack/aux-in cable. What I like best is that the car dock is the center of everything and a separate aux cable connects directly to the car dock and the aux in jack. The 2009 Honda Accord's auxiliary input and cigarette lighter are located in the center armrest, so the ability to run an additional 6-inch cable there is a plus instead of the included cable. The iPod dock cable is built into the car dock

Charging + great sound quality

I had an earlier version from 2009 but the dock connector was crooked so I ordered this new one. With the older one in my Volkswagen GTI, I heard a click about every 10 seconds when listening to music very quietly - it's very distracting when you're trying to immerse yourself in a track. (This won't be noticeable when listening to pop/rock music.) I leave the low/high gain switch in the high position. Regardless, that ugly repetitive clicking sound is now gone on this model! Works great with iPhone 4

I used to use a Bluetooth car stereo with my iPhone until I had to trade the car it was in for a newer one. I used Bluetooth for audio streaming rather than phone functionality. Instead of using two cables in a new car (one for charging and one for outputting audio to the aux port), I was preparing to buy a different Bluetooth receiver when I came across Griffin Autopilot for iPod/iPhone . What really drew me to this device was that it only connected to the iPhone for charging and audio. I have
