I bought it to replace the magpie, in which I hopelessly ruined the coating on the matrix filter, after unsuccessful cleaning with Eclipse liquid, I did not pay attention to the difference between Eclipse and Eclipse 2, the first, as it turned out, quickly, perfectly and irrevocably dissolves the Indium tin oxide (ITO) coating. Pros below: I’ve been using it for almost a year. Everything is known in comparison, up to seven there was forty, so I decided to describe a few differences. Compared to the 40D, the viewfinder is really better, just a fairy tale! I was very scared when on the first day of purchase, putting the battery on charge, I couldn’t manually aim for sharpness, it turned out that the presence of a battery in the camera was necessary. The grid and 100% frame coverage are very convenient! The autofocus speed, the choice of focus points is also just super, although everything was fine in 40D, but in the seven it is an order of magnitude more convenient, thanks to an additional button. Detail is better, but, alas, noise at low ISOs is much more noticeable, an unreasonably large number of pixels also affected the dynamic range, light and shadow moved farther apart. as with the forty, he always had a second one with him. In many reviews they write that the back screen is glass and does not scratch, and so it scratches, especially on metal buttons on clothes. I practically don’t use it, it’s not mine, and the processor on my battered computer just doesn’t pull full hd :) and there’s no time, no need, no money to upgrade yet. But nevertheless, a very convenient video button pleases, maybe someday I’ll make a movie :) Ergonomic amenities on the 40D were also at their best, but here, it seems like weather proof, but if you need to shoot in the rain, it didn’t cost anything to put an ordinary transparent plastic bag on the magpie. Rubber around the tripod mount much larger than in 40D, respectively, the connection with the tripod platform is much more reliable, once, in a vertical position, 40D almost fell off the tripod due to the overweight of the lens and the small area of \u200b\u200bcontact with the platform. So, I wanted to write a few lines, but it turns out , you can write and write :) In a word, if you have 40 or 50D and you shoot for the soul and not for the sake of money and you don’t really need video, then I wouldn’t recommend changing them to seven. Got cons: Perhaps, only an unreasonably large number of megapixels. More is not always better .
