Review on Red Spartan Power 200 Amp ANL Fuse and Holder Kit by Paul Weakland

I bought a Baomain ANL 350A Electric Protection ANL Fuse Holder on February 25, 2020 to fit in my Sprinter van. Knowing nothing better, its use by other vaners inspired my choice. In March 2022, he came within a hair's breadth of starting a catastrophic van fire. The attached picture 1 shows the problem; The Baomain fuse holder output connection has become loose due to the normal bumps and vibrations of the van during operation. As a result, the connection created extremely high resistance when the inverter drew current to get 110 volts from my 600Ah lithium-ion household battery pack. When we inspected the base, we found that the plastic holding the outbound connector pin had melted to the point where only the gossamer-thin burnt char wasolating it from the van frame. If this last layer of carbon were to peel off a little, a closed loop would form between the positive and negative poles of the battery, which would cause the battery to explode in less than a minute. These are the two basic disadvantages of Baomain fuse holder. First, there's no way to screw the cables to the locking pin with two wrenches (there's only the top nut, and the base just cuts into the plastic; over-tighten and you'll break the plastic). The second downside is that there is grossly inadequate insulation, about 1/16 inch of plastic, between the bottom of the connector pin that carries the large current and the bottom of the fuse holder. layer will be damaged and disaster may result. We have replaced the Baomain fuse holder in pictures 4-6 with a Spartan Power Large ANL fuse holder distance from the base. Picture 5 shows that you can screw the screw all the way in because you have access to the second screw underneath, Picture 6 shows a completed repair with a matching cap. The Spartan Power Large ANL fuse holder is twice the price of Baomain, but a thousand. times safer. We have warned!
