Review on 🐠 Enhance Your Marine Reef Aquarium with Jebao SOW Wave Maker Flow Pump and Controller by Molly Carlson

Inexpensive, loud, returns

Very affordable quality. Although there is very little information about this product on the internet, I strongly encourage you to trust me when I say this product is NOT GOOD. I bought a SOW-4 for my nano reef. It was in the water for about 5 minutes playing around with it and I had to box it up and take it back to the store. It was very loud and didn't produce a really high quality waveform despite my best efforts. And speaking out loud, I would compare the noise level to one of those portable, battery-powered massagers you buy at Brookstone. If it helps, I would also compare it to a vibrator at full blast. I'm not exaggerating. I would guess that the larger versions are just larger versions of a poorly built SOW-4. However, if that's all your budget allows and you're not bothered by loud noise and potentially low engine life, by all means let the dice roll. I know riffing is an expensive hobby. If you haven't figured it out, you're either rich or spoiled, or you just haven't figured it out yet. And I know it's tempting to buy a Wavemaker with a controller for less than $60. But here's the thing. Given that water flow is one of the most important factors in successful reef management, you really don't want to risk that kind of money on something so important. Here's my suggestion to people who need nanotechnology: 1) Buy a cheap $10 square section submersible water pump, go to Home Depot and buy an inexpensive digital timer, program it to run at various intervals accordingly on and off with your reef's daylight schedule, and save up for a quality wavemaker and compatible controller that fits your budget. I think there are many things that are overpriced in the reef market so cut the corners where you can't buy with lighting, water flow and filtration.
