I bought a Fantom eSATA 4TB hard drive to backup my DirecTv HR54 receiver. I followed the simple instructions to install the drive. When I restarted my HR54 after installation, it took about an hour to load. Once the TV signal arrived the picture froze and I couldn't get the manual or menu to respond to my remote control. I emailed support and they said I was having a bad ride and needed to request a replacement through Revain. I did this and received a new one within 48 hours. When I plugged in a new one, it had the exact same issues! I emailed support for more troubleshooting and they said there was no other solution or fix. Excuse me. Do not buy this hard drive if you are trying to expand your DirecTv hard drive. It will not work.
