Towing a pontoon boat on a trailer on the road or maneuvering a pontoon boat on the water, so try it out. Even in the water the stern of the boat is so high you have to get up to see the water (unsure). This is the reason for purchasing this camera/monitor system. This camera/monitor system (1080p) has a significantly better image quality than my old rear view camera system in the truck. The camera has a wide viewing angle and is mounted on the rear top rail. If you point the camera to the right, you can see near the engine and also quite far behind the boat. When you're towing a boat it's nice to see what's going on behind you - people pulling in close, ambulances backing the boat in the water. To operate the camera on a boat, use a marine deep cycle battery. The only downside currently with road and boat towing is that the same 7 inch monitor has to switch between towing vehicle (road) and boat (water). However, given the significant gain in security, this is a minor task. The backup system works very well for my needs. The 7" monitor is also better compared to my old system.
