Let me start by saying that the build quality of this tablet is impeccable. Durable powder-coated metal and beautifully designed to fit *most* laptops. Unfortunately, the same build quality doesn't extend to the retractable arms, which are the most important part of the tablet's design. The stabilizing arms are made from a very thin metal material and are "locked in" with a single plastic button. Each of the levers does not have a mechanism to prevent it from slipping completely out of the clamp, sliding all the way left and right, or rotating so that the protrusion pointing down on the end of the lever is allowed. to spin freely and fall straight, your laptop follows it. I wouldn't trust two plastic grips and two thin grips to hold a laptop of any size or weight. Under no circumstances should the levers on ANY laptop compartment freely rotate left and right or around their longitudinal axis, as this would not be useful under any circumstances and any situation would lead to disaster. A more sensible design would be to have two of these. those cocking knobs on each side that allow the levers to just slide in and out from side to side without movement, and, more important, two fault points instead of one. The levers should also have a stopper on the end closest to the Vesa plate itself to prevent them from fully slipping out of the clamp even when fully disengaged and extended. In the event of a complete failure of the clamps, your laptop will only slide as far as it will go, not all the way. There should also be some sort of protrusion or retention system on the sides of the tray. I'm sure there are people out there who are more than willing to trust this design and I have no doubt many people have done it safely but I'm not sure. Have the risk tolerance to trust a $1,000 laptop with such poor design. After only a few days of use, I couldn't justify continuing it.
