Review on Samsung LC34H890WJNXGO Ultrawide Curved Monitor with 3440x1440 Resolution, 100Hz Refresh Rate, Tilt and Height Adjustment, and Flicker-Free Technology by Adam Hayes

I've had this monitor for over a year now and I definitely don't regret the purchase. Despite all the advantages of this monitor, however, it has some significant disadvantages. PROS: Ultra wide aspect ratio - for me it was a complete game changer. Especially when combined with Windows 10's border-snapping abilities, it's much easier to multitask across multiple windows than with a dual-screen setup. 100Hz Refresh Rate - I had a previous 60Hz version of this monitor and this change is significant. Especially in games, the blur is greatly reduced, making screen time much more enjoyable. Response Time - Samsung advertises this monitor with a 5ms response time and I believe it. Also, the monitor supports free syncing, which works great with the Radeon 5700 XT card I recently bought. If you're looking for an ultra-wide monitor for gaming, this might be for you. CONS: Text. The legibility of text on this monitor is not good. Text in particular appears blurrier than on a flat screen. I believe it has to do with the shape of the pixels and maybe just a limitation of current technology. Build Quality / Quality Control. When I first ordered this monitor, the screen failed after a week. Even the sound didn't work despite my best efforts. I sent the monitor back to Samsung and although they replaced the screen, the new one had dingy specs and brand new horizontal stripe issues. They also didn't fix the audio issues I reported on the RMA form. Color quality: I have tried the Samsung CJ791 before and the color reproduction on this monitor was much better. I ended up returning it because the responsiveness is slow and I found it noticeably distracting while playing. Overall I like this monitor. If Samsung could improve quality control, I think this monitor would deserve a low four stars. I'm giving it three stars because frankly these issues are inexcusable and need to be addressed.
