Okay people seem to be asking how thick the steel on these jacks is compared to the thin ones used in most RV's. Here's a rundown: I used a micrometer at various points around the metal of these BAL sockets. I concluded that the thickness of the steel is close to 0.125 or 1/8 inch (11 gauge), actually it was 0.121-0.122, the reason being that the thickness of carbon steel is not exactly 1/2. 8 (0.125). The thickness is slightly thinner at 0.1196, which is about my micron reading from checking the painted surface. The obsolete bushings I am replacing them with are 18 (.0478) thick, or about .050 thick. Dye. This means that BAL connectors are more than twice as thick! They're heavy, each one weighs a lot more than the old originals I replaced them with. It has dual Acme threads that allow it to move up and down much faster than the originals. Likewise, the diameter of the threaded rod of the BAL bush is at least twice as large as the original! Great job BA! Now I have all four on my Puma 25 XLE RBSC and it's rock solid!
