I replaced my old levelers with four of these just before a hike last month. Before installing them, I ran them up and down the table several times. I recommend lubricating the screws before assembly. I have used lube before but have found that dirt, sand etc will stick to the lube. For these new ones I used Teflon spray like you use on bikes. Okay people seem to be asking how thick the steel on these jacks is compared to the thin ones used in most RV's. Here's a rundown: I used a micrometer at various points around the metal of these BAL sockets. I concluded that the thickness of the steel is close to 0.125 or 1/8 inch (11 gauge), actually it was 0.121-0.122, the reason being that the thickness of carbon steel is not exactly 1/2. 8 (0.125).
