First of all, it's much better than what comes with the Aven Digital Microscope and probably deserves more stars. But sagging in its basic up and down motion reduces its effectiveness. Focus is lost when it's needed most, which is when you're moving up and down to focus the image. It remains to change the focus and then wait for the results instead of seeing the changes in real time. Being able to move the subject in two horizontal directions with the settings on the bed is great, if only the basic focus controls were this precise. The backlit background is a nice touch. Overall, the device is solid. Now it remains to understand how to reduce backlash in the up / down setting. Using both adjustment knobs helps, as does knowing how the device rotates on the pole when moving up/down.
