Saving tons of water, but problems with tankless water systems

Please correct the drawing. I bought 2 and both were white plastic with a gray ring (shown is chrome with a black ring). Struggling with the drought here in California, I wanted to try different showerheads. That's great, but there are some trade-offs compared to traditional showerheads. The woman hates it because the water splashes over a large area and she claims the water "hurts" when it hits her neck and chest (I didn't really notice, so I'll take her word for it) . I have to remind them that we are in a drought so using this shower head is much better than using the much shorter shower head with the old one. There are 3 settings: 1.5 g/m, 1.0 g/m and 0.5 g/m. I haven't measured this, but you can tell you're using a lot less water. I switched from the 1.5gsm solid Delta showerhead which, to be precise, seems to be the best compromise between water saving, looks and showering comfort. I wanted something that would save even more water and could be used in my baby's shower. I have found that you can use the 1.0g/m setting for regular shower use, switch to the 1.5g/m setting to rinse out shampoo and soap and the 0.5g/m setting can be used for foaming. Of course it's more work, but I don't sacrifice shower time and consider saving a ton of water, so I think it's worth it. You should be aware that the 0.5 g/m3 setting is too low for my water heater that heats water. only draw water when hot water is flowing through the pipes. 0.5g/m should be enough to trigger it, but most shower valves will automatically mix with cold water, which will likely result in around 0.3g/m of hot water, causing the water heater to think it no longer needs hot water . I should start showering on higher settings and switch to the 0.5g/m setting when it gets hot and only for a minute or two at most. You should also be aware that because the water droplets are so small, they come out almost like a mist (especially at the 0.5 g/m setting), which feels much colder. It doesn't really bother me right now since I'm in Fresno and it's incredibly hot right now and I can turn up the temp of the water. Winter will come, everything can change. I'm hesitant to put this in my kid's shower because of overspray. My shower has sliding shower doors and my child's bathroom has a shower curtain. I worry that the kids aren't careful enough to keep the curtains closed tight and the shower head tilted properly and the water flowing through the tub. Overall I love this shower head and would recommend it to anyone who is serious about saving money. Water.
