My kitty hasn't peed on it (yet) but it is in front of the tray and we bought it because of this problem. We wanted a rug that would NOT soak through urine like many others we've had. This rug is thin, light (easy to pick up and shake out) with nice padding that is not too thick. We just pick it up and shake the spilled dirt back into the bowl. We poured some water on it to see if it really is waterproof and it is! The ground underneath was absolutely DRY. Hooray! So far, so good
