The Engine That Could

Update: I've made about 150 MASKS (and making more), the outer layer is heavy furniture fabric. I can not believe that! My mum just offered to pay the expensive shipping to send me my Bernina she borrowed but why bother when this little fella can get the job done. So far I have made 35 fabric masks with this machine - some 8 layers thick. Mask. MARVELOUS! I bought this machine as a last resort to make sheet masks during the COVID-19 pandemic. I didn't have my regular sewing machine because my mother borrowed it. My car is a $400 Bernina so to say I was skeptical about a $30 car would be an understatement. BUT, this little car exceeded my expectations. To date I have made over 35 cloth masks with heavy cotton canvas lining and heavy quilted inner fabric. The machine could easily sew 8 layers of fabric. I'm surprised. It doesn't even have all the conveniences of a simple machine like reverse sewing. This is easily fixed by flipping the fabric back and forth - has the same function as a backstitch. Stitch length isn't adjustable, and tension adjustment is a guess-and-check, annoying but manageable. The instructions aren't very clear either, but there are plenty of YouTube videos explaining how to use the machine. I would recommend this car. I am beyond amazed and impressed with the $30 machine.
