Ok but the shelves could be better.

Overall this is a pretty good stand but there are some issues and tweaks that need to be made to make it attractive when used with smaller TVs (e.g. 40 inch TVs by Samsung) is set up. First, the instructions for step 4, the top shelf, are wrong. Or more specifically, the top shelf has slanted/opposed holes on the wrong side. After manufacture, you can not properly install the shelf according to the instructions. However, you can install it "reverse" as exactly shown in the images posted on this page. The inverted position adds vertical end caps on the left and right ends of the shelf that limit the width of devices mounted horizontally on the shelf. I know how to fix this, maybe countersink the holes the other way and use a larger head pan head screw, or maybe just flip the shelf and accept a slight protrusion of the screw heads. The top shelf isn't very height adjustable either, sticking out like a giraffe's neck over a 40-inch screen. It definitely needs drilling. On the same 40" Samsung, the vertical rails/hooks in step 5 extend 2" above the top of the TV or something like two small ears or short antennas. They are sawn off with a grinder. However, this has more to do with the limitations at the back of the TV than the stand. I'll use a bit more length for supports the L-brackets that come with the soundbar (also Samsung) to mount the bar almost flush over the top of the TV. It's good. Reasonable value for money but could be better. It's reliable enough to support the customization needed to pretty much make it what I want.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Hard to say
