They finally work with something crafty

I don't know what happened in the plumbing world but sometime in early 2020 I couldn't find a replacement ball big enough to fit. The universal sets with balls of different sizes were also too small and leaking. I risked this detail and here are my findings: The ball in this kit is too small for my gutter (a house built in the USA in 1994) but this kit comes with 2 washers, they are concave to fit on to pass the ball on one side and flat with the other. With just a washer on the back or side, tighten the NUT, it works with no leaks and is tight. I couldn't use the brass nut that came with it, it was too small, no big deal, my old one was fine. I also tried another part with a metal threaded rod and a plastic ball/pin that you screw on, but the plastic pin attached to the drain/plug wasn't long enough and when you opened the drain it wasn't open wide enough and the water would expire insanely slowly. This kit did the trick with a washer on the back/nut side. If anyone knows why the industry chose a smaller bead size and where the larger size is found, I'd love to know.
