I'm glad someone is trying to solve the problem the industry caused when they replaced water bottle caps which meant we had to return bottles instead of refilling them. While not as good as the caps the bottles used to come with, they are closer than other options I've seen. When the main cap is on the bottle I couldn't remove it without damaging it. The ring that is supposed to remove the plug in the lid broke immediately, but I was able to pull it out with my thumbnail. The water dispenser has a small inner cap that could probably be punctured with a needle, but I put the cap on an empty water bottle to fill it up. I then had to insert an inner cork to fill the pitcher. After filling, the outer plug entered the hole with minimal leakage. I have yet to see how it performs in the donor and reuse phase.
