Superb quality and design - smart, fail-safe design

This is a GREAT product. The Yolink system uses long-range Wi-Fi that controls all of its devices. I bought a water sensor with a base unit (wifi hub) and then added a garage door sensor (separately). Long range "Wi-Fi" IS OUTSTANDING - and can connect things far further away than my home WiFi ever could. . Your Wi-Fi hub/device connects to your existing internet. I was concerned that maybe all the devices would slow down my home WiFi, but that's not the case at all as most of the time the WiFi isn't even being used. Your long-distance Wi-Fi works like this: When a device "goes offline," it immediately sends a signal to the Wi-Fi hub to alert or follow given automation instructions. When the touch device is NOT firing (okay), the Wi-Fi system itself periodically "checks" the remote devices/sensors (one second every 15 minutes I think) to confirm that the devices are working properly - a large fail-safe feature. My water sensors (I have two) are about 100 feet from the Wi-Fi hub with a few walls in between. The phone app used for the initial setup shows the signal strength as well as the battery level of various items. Water sensors work with a pair of small metal sensors at the top and a pair at the bottom of the device. I placed my water sensors in both of my A/C units above the sump to alert me if the drain line is clogged and water is getting into the overflow sump. I was a bit concerned that the metal tray itself that the water sensor will sit on might activate the sensor, but that's not the case. The bottom metal water sensors are located (maybe 1mm or less) away from where the water sensor is located. The slightest amount of water on the floor will trigger the ground/floor sensor. As stated in the description, a phone AP is required for setup, however the system can work independently from your phone once the devices are set up. You can get notifications by phone, email or use the sensor/beeper they also sell (I don't have one). I am very impressed with the quality of the items I have received. I like how easy it is to add new devices and how the devices work and how they can work together using the different automation options available in the app.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
