The material is normal, sat down after washing.
I think they shrunk in the wash. I bought a size 12 for a larger 10 year old girl who has a small bump. Maybe it's typical, but after washing these leggings, the waist (I measured) was 10 inches in diameter. Now double this for a 20 inch waist. Maybe this is a typical size for a 10 year old, but not for a belly that needs length.
