The rubber bottoms help with walking, but consider these indoor shoes. Easy to slip on & off. I ordered the 12-18 size for my 12 month old. Without socks they are roomy, with it's a little tight, but I expect these to last a while. Worth the $20Update: ordered a second pair in the next size up & some for my nephew on the way. They're great.
