Review on ๐Ÿšฒ Thule Yepp Maxi: Rack Mount Child Bike Seat - Safe & Secure Riding Experience by Todd Vesci

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Feels great can't wait to ride it

It's so expensive I have to change the chainring had to dock, especially since I had to buy a rack adapter to fit my bike. It looks really cool and I was able to thread a zip tie through an unused shoulder strap to hang a blinking taillight. Thule makes a flashlight that fits in the back for around $30, but the reviews don't seem to blink. Overall I bought it for safety reasons and if I buy a cargo bike I can fit 2 of them on the back. Also, the Thule Yepp Maxi weighs about 10 pounds and the Thule Yepp Nexxt should weigh about half that, which should be taken into account as all roof racks have a weight limit. Rigid co-plastic pilot with a thin layer of padding. The 5 point harnesses are such a huge improvement in terms of co-pilot safety that my 2 year old son started slipping down the plastic chest strap you lift to be at armpit height so the straps are over his shoulder and then going over him slipped. stretched his arms out from under him like he was getting out of a car seat. Now it would still be buckled but now only at the waist, this design is much better for that security. The buckle is more secure thanks to two zones that have to be pressed to open. And the footrests are adjustable! Perfect fit for my above average 2 year old. I like the leg straps better on the co-pilot, they use velcro which is perfect for those who constantly change foot size, even working with sandals. Thule uses a strap style with holes about an inch apart. I assume these work very well as there are many rave reviews for this seat. I'm still waiting for my seat adapter to be installed on the bike, but my child climbed right into the seat while I was holding it. I also love the multiple reflectors on the back of the Thule seat. I'm going to find a way to mount the flashing taillight like I did on the co-pilot, which was done with a tie-down through an extra shoulder strap that I didn't use. It's a bit heavy, but my baby weighs 30 pounds too. I try not to win races with this setup. Pros: Comfort, Security, Peace of Mind. Cons: Expensive, more than twice the price of my partner (which broke after years of use and abuse. And I wanted a more reliable suspension). The leg loops aren't my favorite but should fit. Doesn't easily fit on any stand, might need an adapter around $50 or a Thule stand around $70. It was all security checks and countless bike shops/websites mentioning Thule Yepp Maxi. I just wish there were more color options, neon green please. I thought the orange would cover up the reflectors a bit, so I went with blue.

Pros
  • Fits on rear bike racks with EasyFit window or luggage rack with Thule Yepp Maxi EasyFit adapter (sold separately)
Cons
  • Doesn't fit everything
