Clear leader in entry-level desktop speakers

I have purchased several Majority audio products in the past and have always been very impressed with the excellent quality and value for money. The DX10 are no exception and with the low-end desktop speaker market saturated with cheap no-name products, they represent an excellent option at a very reasonable price. PACKAGING: The speakers come in a clean, thoughtful packaging. Personally, I don't like pretty boxes, but it's always nice when the first experience of a new purchase starts off on the right foot (and good packaging makes the gift more enjoyable). DESIGN/MANUFACTURE QUALITY: The speakers themselves are made of plastic, but feel fairly sturdy - no creaks or pops. The design is a fairly neutral black but with some character in the slightly angled speaker grille and some other curved "floating" accents. They look and feel good for my home desktop, but certainly won't look out of place in a professional setting either. The majority branding is simple and not overly intrusive, appearing in lowercase on the left speaker only. The volume knob rotates smoothly, makes a pleasant click, and is attached to an internal mechanism (so the cap doesn't slip off like some cheaper speakers). Each speaker has a pair of thin foam strips on the feet to increase friction and prevent sound from reflecting off the table, so you don't feel keyboard buzz during audio playback. The set is pretty basic. The two satellites are connected, and the back of the right speaker has a 3.5mm cable and USB port. As far as I can tell, USB is for power only, so the 3.5mm jack is the only option for audio input. There is a pass-through headphone jack on the front, however. Even if your device only has a single 3.5mm jack, you can still connect headphones for quiet listening. All cables are long enough for you to move the speakers freely around your desk. AUDIO SYSTEM: Truly outstanding sound quality. Reproduction of the full range of mids and highs is surprisingly good for a basic pair of desktop stereo speakers with very crisp and clear sound. There are no EQ settings or audio presets on the speakers themselves, so any changes must be made digitally. The default soundscape, however, is very easy on the ear and handles a variety of content well, including video calls, dialog-heavy TV shows and newscasts, and music (see my video, where the vocal and instrumental portions of the track are very clearly delineated.) The easy increasing the tilt of the speakers helps create a more pleasing and immersive stereo sound. As you would expect from a compact desktop speaker, the drivers are too small to produce powerful bass, but they are sufficient to ensure that the low-frequency content of percussion instruments and the human voice sound rich and authentic. In terms of power output, 10 watts of power is plenty considering how far away you typically sit from desktop speakers. However, if you have more space and really want to crank up the volume, they're definitely capable of audibly filling a small to medium-sized room. OTHER: If you register the product online, the warranty is extended to three years. Given their build quality I'd be very surprised if I ran into any issues during this period, but the free extended warranty is always nice to have in your back pocket and adds to the overall premium feel. FINAL THOUGHTS: Overall, I highly recommend the DX10. They offer everything you could want from a compact 2.0 desktop speaker and just feel like a more expensive alternative to other basic speakers, while being priced just as competitively or superior. 5 stars for a specific winner!
