Review on Sony DVP SR200P DVD Player Black by Mike Lawler

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice little player at a very good price

Updated 7/23/13. I am changing my rating from 4 stars to 2 stars because this DVD player has stopped working. It would just stop loading discs even after cleaning them and the player's heads. It took many attempts to even open the drawer. I've tried rebooting, resetting and all the usual remedies to no avail. After all, getting him to do anything was impossible. Trying to fix it will cost more than replacing it so I bought a Samsung DVD-E360 (black) DVD player which is a similar base unit which I hope will last a lot longer. This broken Sony has been used an average of 12 hours per week since November 2011 and has only been operated by me (an adult). He should have held out longer. I bought this DVD player to replace the DVD player built into the side of a small Trutech flat screen TV I bought about 4 years ago. The DVD player in this TV was finicky from the start and after about a year decided it wouldn't play many of the DVDs we have. This Sony DVD player was the perfect solution. It was cheap and easy to hook up. Included in the box was a 3 foot A/V cable, remote control (with batteries) and instruction manual. The 3 foot AV cable wasn't enough to position the DVD player in relation to the TV, so I ordered this 6 foot AV cable from Revain. The player is basic, pretty much what you would expect. from a simple DVD player and it works fine. Picture and sound are as they should be. It also plays music CDs or MP3 files from a CD. without problems. What I like best is that it plays all the DVDs I've tried as opposed to the tricky old one, even a few that have a few scratches on them. I also like the size which is very compact and light weight. Nothing fancy but a good choice for the money.
