Surprisingly good results compared to Delid with IHS replacement

So I felt like an adventurer and decided to delete my 9909k (6 months ago). I used a cool Rockit kit and replaced the IHS with a pure copper. We will, only the temperature has dropped by an average of 5-8°C. That's pretty good, but I won the silicon lottery and my chip was stable at 5.3 GHz. The problem is that the temperature has become too high. With Delid I averaged 92°C, which is doable but not great in the long run. Here is this simple little gem. I removed and reinstalled the IHS and processor bracket from my phone. Some liquid metal and reinstalled my EKWB unit, all went up fine. I ran three different stress tests, an AIDA 64, Prime 95 with avx and OCCT. The average temperature dropped by 22°C! I couldn't believe it worked so well. My average temperature for stress testing is currently 70-75°C and gaming 55-68°C recorded with HWinfo. All in all, it's risky. If you don't know what you're doing, you can ruin a $500 processor. For me (just my opinion) it was more than worth the risk. If you want the best of the best then this is for you. If you only overclock lightly or don't do anything at all, I'd recommend skipping this. My low to mid 90's tempo was the deciding factor for me to do this. If my pace had been in the mid 80's I don't think I would have made it.

  • Computer and Accessories
Cons
  • Not as good as it says
