This is great for a laptop with poor or choppy audio with intrusive and buggy drivers/software and coming from a 'low-end' audiophile. However, if you plan on using it for more than just a laptop or gaming console, the only good thing is that the audio on the board is absolutely superb afterwards. Audio quickly becomes distorted at higher volumes (this is more common with consoles and inexpensive headphones) and adds noise. If you're a music lover, there are some additional downsides. The sound changes dramatically from the source, with more bass and lower mids. It mostly comes down to personal preference, but keep in mind that this will take you even further away from the original sound than the built-in and card sounds. In my opinion the bass is too much, it's distorted and muffled, but I don't appreciate the bass and prefer the soundstage.
