Review on Twelve South Compass Pro iPad Stand - Portable Display πŸ“± Stand with 3 Viewing/Typing Angles for iPad and iPad Pro, Matte Black by Mike Malvo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Surprisingly imperfect due to high cost

Updated early August 2021 as per attached image) and is totally unable to hold extended hind leg. I removed my "temporary fix" image as it's pretty pointless. My current solution is to just staple and glue everything in place inside, in the fully extended position. If you have it, this might fix it for you too. Update late July 2021: Clarifications) I don't write many reviews but this case needs a warning to potential buyers and maybe some help for existing users. It should work well for its intended purpose as a stand, but stability even with a heavy iPad comes at a fairly significant cost. Unlike the other reviewer, I had no trouble unrolling the stubs that hold the iPad in place, you can take them out from the front and after a while mine were so loose that gravity fell them out. The biggest issue, also confirmed by other reviewers, is a serious downside for something so newly designed and expensive: The extension uses a cheap plastic bit to depress the extension's locking mechanism. It begins to crack and fail after a relatively short time (see attached image), causing it to collapse under the weight of the iPad Pro. Maybe it only affects certain production runs? But considering the price, at least for the "Pro" model, they really should have used a metal part for this, like the rest of their product. just a non lengthened stem 2) try to figure it out with assistance or 3) try to fix it yourself? For those who have it but still like it: you can pry open the back of this leg with a small Phillips screwdriver and, for example, reinforce a plastic tag with a plastic strip cut from a disposable container (like in my 2nd picture)

Pros
  • New optimized size fits all iPad and iPad Pro sizes (except iPad Mini). Tablets from 6" to 12" x 9" wide also work.
Cons
  • Good but not great
