I chose this notebook because we wanted to make footprints and handprints for my son and finish the book for him in his first year of life. There were ink pads that came with the picture frame, but they were only "disposable" ink pads, so we needed something we could use multiple times and something that was non-toxic. It was perfect because when we bought it, his entire arm and legs fit on the pillow. We were able to pass a few tries to see how much pressure we needed and since he was a kid it took us a few tries to get it right! Thank God there was enough ink. You don't really have to press too hard, just hold it down for a few seconds and there should be enough ink. I've read some reviews of the ink drying out - well I haven't experienced that. I've had the ink pad for 5 months now and the ink hasn't dried. I used it recently because my wife and I need his fingerprints for our visa application. Overall definitely a good product.
