Review on Rockport World Classic Tumbled Leather Men's Shoes for Athletes by Keith Baker

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Worst so-called "hiking shoes " I've ever had. Don't take all the good reviews. Don't buy this.

I do not recommend this shoe for anything, let alone the price. Don't take all the good reviews, they should be for an older version. I can't imagine anyone walking or standing having anything good to say about them. Therefore, they are very uncomfortable when walking or standing, even after they are put on. Issues: Extremely poor insoles, snug fit once proper replacement insoles are available, grossly inadequate built-in cushioning/torsional support under the forefoot, tongue too soft (takes up the volume of the shoe), laces too short, front cut too high, lacing area. I bought these after reading so many rave reviews and having enjoyed many other Rockports in the past. Big mistake. The included "insole" are utter nonsense, a real insult to the consumer. To be honest, using newspaper sheets would be the same as using the included insoles. By far the thinnest I've seen and utterly useless with no padding or arch support. If you don't replace them, these shoes aren't even good for a short walk. I used an aftermarket sockliner, but to get adequate underfoot cushioning, it eats up the shoe's internal volume and creates too much compression in the foot. This, combined with a tongue that is too thick, means that the laces have to be loosened and the ones supplied are too short. The laces are also unattractively thick and bulky. Another special feature of these shoes is the high neckline of the front of the shoe, especially in relation to the height of the back of the shoe. I wear hiking shoes and half boots all the time, but the height of the front of these shoes is counterproductive. The extra height in the front adds no support at all and really just uncomfortably pinches and rubs the front of the shin/ankle area and makes the foot hotter in warm weather. I bought them during a busy period. in his work and relied too much on all the rave reviews. So I mistakenly thought they would be fixed after the break-in and waited too long to return them. I had to spend more money on new insoles and laces to avoid throwing them in the trash. I can't afford to replace them so I have to endure the inferior comfort in these shoes and only have to wear super thin socks which are the only ones that fit me. Do yourself a favor, don't buy them.

Pros
  • I would give this 6 stars!
Cons
  • Not suitable for fancy occasions
