Prusik knot anxiety

I bought this because it was cheaper than other belay ropes I've bought. I read reviews about the dissatisfaction of the Prusik knots. I thought maybe they were being unfair, how could you make a bad prusik knot? In the more expensive versions I've bought, the knot sits relatively tight on the rope, it can move, but you're more assured that in the event of a fall, it'll grab right away. However, I made my own cheaper than the price of the expensive ones. This article is about how much you are going to spend on rope so I thought again how to mess up the knot I will buy it and save time making it. I used it on my stand this weekend and wasn't at all sure if the knot would catch if I fell. I pushed it up going up the stairs and it slid back down. I twisted the knot a bit so it was tighter on the rope and held up a bit. The whole idea of this product is to protect me; I didn't give it a star because I had no intention of testing it as I was in no way sure it would hold up. Because of my insecurity it gets 2 stars. I'm not returning it because I have extra rope to make my own knot and would have spent almost the same if I had ordered rope to make a safety rope. I am a fan of the Muddy brand and am a little surprised it made the list given the quality of the other Muddy items I have and the significant importance of this product.
