I love this item. Better to be safe than sorry. This thing will protect you from the ground to your seat. Too many people fall off the ladder onto the seat. Don't be a statistic. I can't put a price on my life. I have never used a safety line in my young hunting life but the first time I used one of these it saved my life. Will never hang or climb on the stand without it again. This makes the ascent and descent a bit more difficult, but the feeling of security is worth it. The rope contains two Prusik knots, however one of my Prusik knots broke due to a serious shortcoming in the length of the rope used. It has inner rope strands that protrude from the outer casing.
