Review on ROYAL BRUSH REA5304 Piece Acrylic by Doris Tran

I bought this on sale at my local store. When I first opened it I thought maybe I made a mistake. The paint tubes are small, like in a paint-by-numbers kit. The pigments look cheap, especially the emerald green which looks like a washed out version of my old light Liquitex Permanent Green. The brushes looked fine, but they fell apart when I dunked them about an inch in water on my first project. The brush that fell apart was glued together with something like PVA glue. Is this set worth the money? I wouldn't say so at first, but I only stain, so I kept using it. I like to paint the background with acrylics and then use a combination of watercolor markers, alcohol markers and colored pencils to work out the details. For now I'm happy with the colors in this little set. I made three or four designs (81/2 x 11 coloring pages) and the white paint has run out. The colors I use the most are white, emerald green which I didn't like, ptalo blue and yellow. I find small tubes handy because I can find them at a glance. A plastic bowl with paints and brushes serves as a palette, but it is transparent. Despite the cheapness of the design, the brushes are useful. The cartridges hold the point very well and have good spring while flat responsive. I did not use a small easel or canvas. If I were drawing original artwork on canvas, I don't know if I would have liked this set. It's tiny and there really isn't much you can do with it unless you're a miniaturist, in which case you'll need higher quality pigments. . I wish they would sell small tubes of paint in a small set with a palette case. Love how they are stored and easily accessible for color choices. I love how the brushes are stored in the case along with the paint. I wouldn't buy this whole set again, but I would buy the paints again if they were in a set without the canvas and easel. This set is definitely something for fans.
