Review on Comtrend Enhanced Streaming and Gaming G.hn Powerline Ethernet πŸ’» Over Coaxial Kit - 1200Mbps Speed - 2 Unit Kit (GCA-6000KIT) by Adam Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good initial rating - rating updated after 1 year

Between these settings, my network transfer rate is 497 Mbps. The setup didn't go too bad. I reconfigured my coax spaghetti in the basement to be a straight arrow from one to the other. Nothing but those things on Coax. I'm glad it worked because I didn't want to run Cat6 in my apartment and mess around with drywall rework and all that. I'm happy with the 500. It's a good speed for the no-wire tradeoff. I'll update this review in a while if anything changes, but for now - good stuff. The engineer agreed. To update. After 1 year I can say that these things worked quite well. No instability, no lost packets. I even added extra cabling to shorten the distance and splitters between them and upgraded the switch it connects to. I hit 500 and am on the upper speed threshold, sometimes around 540, which is wonderful. Keep in mind that 1200Mbps is the theoretical limit for the technology, and that's fine. Expect more like 300-600Mbps. 1200Mbps might be possible on a dual-band network, but it's not. They're also half the price. My biggest need was latency reduction and consistent/reliable packet delivery and not ideal gigabit speeds as I stream Steam from my gaming desktop to other parts of my house either over a wired Steam connection or over AC WiFi. For that it works perfectly.
