Initial setup was very easy. With manual focus, you can press one of the (- or +) buttons to optically zoom in on the lens for photography, and at the same time you can use the same buttons to manually focus on any object in the scene. And with autofocus, you can press a dedicated button to fire the shutter on the controller, so just press it halfway to focus, and then you can shoot by pressing it all the way down. It works exactly as advertised.
