High performance - well, that only applies to read access, not recording . While the performance of large sequential blocks is maximum for reads and average for writes, writes with 4K block size are too slow. See attached test images. For higher 4K recording performance, you have better options. A well-known competitor (Extreme Pro USB 3.1) is simply better in every respect (through better write performance). If the physically smaller size isn't attractive here, the competitor's physically larger drive offers much better performance (albeit a tie on reads). See attached AS SSD tests. The tests I ran were run with several different verified Gen 2 cables (990MB/s on USB NVMe SSDs) and the results were the same. Note. This drive could not be configured for write caching in Windows 10 like another competitor drive. Disabling write caching on another competitor drive results in (slightly slower) performance, but still a noticeable difference. This test is not displayed.
