Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Black Sony PlayStation 3 Console with 250GB Storage by Mark Gilbert

Revainrating 4 out of 5

There may be a problem with a dual-layer Blu-ray.

I bought a used Play Station 3 Super Slim from a reliable Revain dealer. The console came in protective bubble wrap, all cables were neatly connected, the internet connection worked great making setup easy, and the games ran great (just a little disc noise on startup). That was until I tried a dual-layer Blu-Ray disc, which I had some issues with. The game was a two-disc Metal Gear Solid Legacy collection running on a dual-layer Blu-Ray. The console was able to recognize one of the update discs and that was the first and only time it played. I tried game discs that worked as well as a few new ones. on the system and they played fine, but I noticed that they were single layer Blu-ray discs (the back of the disc was a bit more transparent than an opaque dual layer disc). I contacted the seller who informed me that before shipping they had tested different types of discs, did a little research on the internet and found that other users were experiencing problems with dual layer Blu-ray discs on Play Station Slim and Super Slim reported models. These have never been officially addressed as issues by Sony, but have cropped up quite often on the Play Station forums. Since all single layer Blu-ray discs work with Play Station Slim models, I think it might be some kind of manufacturing issue, but I'm not 100% sure, and it could just be a defect in my console. who told me that before shipping they tested different types of discs, researched the internet and noticed that other users reported problems with Blu-ray Dual Layer discs on Play Station Slim and Super Slim models.
