Approximately 400 watts flow through this controller. It was incredibly warm at first when a block was walked on. After putting a heatsink on top of the relay and removing some parts of the case for better airflow, it worked fine and didn't get hot. When the load doubled, the relay got so hot that the solder swam. I was able to move the relay freely. I have a few fans trying to control the heat before buying another controller. I really like this one so hopefully I don't have to poke around. Update: After trying to cool the unit down it failed Update: The relay was a failure point, I decided to order another board (in blue this time) and then just switch the temp control relay to the 40A relay , which in turn regulates the load. The board works cool and absolutely without problems. So if that board can't handle the load, shift the load to another component that can handle it.
