Cheap materials mean shorter usage - or a sewing project

Updated review: I really liked this hat but had to wait longer to write a review. After only 2 or 3 months of use, the Velcro (or Velcro) no longer held up, which is pretty important when worn by an active preschooler. I have items with velcro that still hold tight after 20+ years. It looks like the wool portion (the "loop" of the hook and loop component) is quite worn and no longer "looped". Check out the attached photo. As a result, the band no longer snaps onto itself. I'm assuming a cheap fake velcro was used and not a real branded velcro product. (No wonder why they trademarked the name - who wants to be associated with cheap products that don't work. All is not lost - I can buy real velcro to replace the cheap fake one that's on a hat is used but I bought this to use my son. I wasn't planning to buy myself a sewing project. Manufacturer's Advice: Spend the extra pennies and use a legitimate Velcro. ******* ****************** ********************* Easy to wash and sewn well We live in the north where the winters are harsh. It has a warm faux sheepskin interior and a lovely waterproof nylon-like fabric exterior. This hat is perfect for my active son (I wanted something that fits under his chin so he can stay in while he plays outside.) So I'm looking forward to getting a few winters of these.
