Easy installation, dampens LG washing machine rattle

Like many reviewers here, I have an LG front loading washing machine with quick closing valves that make a loud banging water pipes . I've tried installing water hammer dampers in several places, including one for washing machines that connects directly to the inlet valves - at first they seemed to help, but after a while the knocking returned (usually somewhere else in the house!) This Danco product uses a slightly different technique. Instead of an air chamber, some sort of spring-loaded mechanism appears to be used to absorb pressure. What I can tell you is that when first installed everything worked great - I could see the hose cracking as the valves closed, but the only sound I heard was the faint click of the built in drain trap. Time will tell if the performance holds up, but I'm cautiously hopeful. If anything changes I will come back to edit this review. Edit: November 26, 2017 Yes, I'm back. Danco hoses mitigate the knocks in my house, but the more laundry we do, the more often the knocks come back. But now the pony's position has changed to be closer to the water heater and cold water source. I found that the hoses would bounce when the valve closed and if they hit the wall behind the washing machine THAT would cause the impact so I wrapped each hose in a piece of foam insulation and that helped, but me can see the pipes popping up into the basement every time the valves close. These tubes help, but at least for me they are not a complete cure.

Pros
  • Feed line integrated with hammer damper to eliminate and prevent pipe rattle
Cons
  • General information
