Review on Westar EM 2564 Engine Mount by Gunaraj Varga

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Typical cheap Chinese engine mounts.

Replacement engine mounts for Ford F150, F250 and F350 pickups with 5.0 and 5.8 liter V8 engines (several years). Although these mounts are very close in shape and construction to the original mounts, they use 20% lighter steel plates and have inferior workmanship than the original mounts. , on the Westar mount it is only 0.145 to 0.152 inches. On the Original Equipment mount, the base plate that touches the frame mount is .120" thick. On a Westar mount it is only 0.097 inches thick. With the original bracket, the plate bolted to the motor has no more than 0.010" of warpage near the bolt holes. On the Westar mount it's at least 0.030 inches, which is about three times that. Finally, the through rivet, which prevents the fastener from completely loosening in the event of elastomeric failure, is a solid rivet on an OE fastener with a forged flat head on each end. The Westar mount is solid on one side and hollow on the other, much weaker than the original design. Unfortunately there is nothing better on the secondary market. The engine mounts for this application from CarQuest, collar and NAPA are almost identical but 2-3 times more expensive. Pioneer's "DEA" bindings for this Summit Racing application are identical in every way, even in price. Everything is made in China, possibly in the same factory. The only way to get better quality engine mounts is to buy OE mounts from Ford, and they're $90 - almost 10 times that! So now it just has to be done.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • High price
