More plastic than aluminum
I currently use it for my 12.9" iPad. Um. You can put almost any device in it and that's a good thing. The side panels are made of aluminium-like plastic. The base is metal , Heavy, which is good You don't want your stuff tipping over when your cat climbs onto your desk and does whatever it takes to move it out of the way so it can lie on your keyboard Stands up to cat tests.
