Review on Cuisinart DCC 4000 Coffee Maker Black by Lindsay Ray

Barking Bad best in coffee, tea and espresso

Straight out of the 11th grade, this coffee maker has a cool 'Heisenberg' vibe with its crisp 'glass'. Unfortunately, it looks like it was developed by people who didn't bother to actually test it. First off, this is a wide mount and you should leave extra room at each end so you can a) stretch your neck around the left end to read the faint graduations printed on the LEFT SIDE of the water tank and b ) which can remove the coffee pot by pulling the right end due to the mold of the base that surrounds the heating plate. Another "simple" annoyance is that if you prefer the "fat" setting, you have to remember to press the button for each pot, as it will turn off at the end of each brew cycle. I could probably get used to these quirks if it weren't for one fatal flaw with this thing: the filter basket is held in place by a small plastic tab that snaps into a hole in the bottom of the transparent filter housing. Getting it right is an exercise in desperation, and I'm afraid it's only a matter of time before that bump breaks. But the real problem with this absurd design is that if you remove the pan mid-cycle to quickly grab a cup, the filter basket usually pops out of position and needs to be leveled and snapped back into place or the basket will overflow. . Not easy without scalding your fingers. I'll pack it up and send it back for a refund.
