Based on most of the reviews I was glad to try this belt. The ratchet mechanism works well, but nothing more. If you plan to be active in this belt, don't worry. The belt is very thin compared to most belts. The mechanism for attaching the strap end is not successfully designed. It appears to be designed for a thicker belt and has no compression mechanism whatsoever. The spikes only fit half of the belt and once snapped in, are not rigid and move. My belt has snapped three times and I've only had it a month. I've tried pulling it both tight and a little loose, and never mind any pressure on the end of the strap will cause it to move and eventually tear the top layer of thin leather.
