I bought this solar panel to run the exhaust fans in the chicken coop as there is no electricity. It took a bit of fiddling to figure out where to put the panel, but once flipped up it worked fine. The fans are wired directly to the panel (had to buy a cable), I didn't need the included controller to run the two 5V fans. The panel delivers enough power to run the fans. The sun is beating down on the panel, the juice is flowing, the fans are turning up. When the sun goes down (or disappears behind the clouds), the sap flow slows and the fans stop spinning. Well suited to dissipate excess heat in the chicken coop in summer. (I changed the direction of the fans, and now they circulate heat inside.) Of course, when the sun isn't shining, the fans don't work. If you need constant performance, you have to connect the battery to the included controller. Where I work they offer a similar 10w solar panel and they charge $149! The only difference is that they include a mounting bracket. This article fully serves my purposes and was easy to learn and inexpensive!
