Definitely worth taking. Moreover, if this is your first fix, I would venture to recommend it instead of 50mm f1.8. Let 50mm be more aperture, but its mechanics are very lousy, they need strong nerves, because. misses happen very often, and the backlash is large. Just rebuild manually, remove your hand - the lens has shifted.

I don’t know where it came from that since STM, then, by definition, it should be ultra-fast and silent. Maybe advertising is everything. But, damn it, they must understand that this is already a completely different level. For such a price (4800-5000r) to get to the bottom of it - it's stupid! The speed is all the more enough, given that it focuses exactly the first time - no worse than the others. Noise - chickpeas so there will always be noise. Yes, when recording a video, the microphone gives off a rumble from the motor, but there is no nasty buzzing when focusing, as with a conventional engine.

In general, the lens is excellent.

Pros

Contrasting and sharp picture. Doesn't lather when open. The build quality is excellent, there is no backlash, the focus ring is very nice and rotates smoothly. Allows the matrix completely! There are no glare and hares. Autofocus is top notch. Yes, not the fastest, if it seems to anyone that since STM, then it should be fast by definition, but accurate. The stepper motor allows the controller to measure the position very accurately, and therefore the focus does not twitch back and forth, but immediately falls into place without jerks and misses.

Cons

Manual focus electric. The ring is a valcoder, that is, there is no direct mechanical connection. The downside is that there is some delay, the dependence is not direct, and when the speed of rotation of the ring changes, its effect is also different. If you twist in one direction smoothly and return quickly (or vice versa), the focus will not return to its place, but will under-twist or twist.
