Review on LG 27UK650-W Monitor: FreeSync Technology, 4K Ultra HD, Tilt & Height Adjustment, Anti-Glare IPS Screen by Kirt Morgan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Exceeds my expectations and is worth the money.

This monitor exceeded my expectations (a reviewer who does extensive research on displays and display technologies). I was torn between this model and the 850W model. The only differences are the speakers (which it doesn't have), USB-C (not included) and the special calibration done for the 850-w. I am satisfied with the processing quality, and the screen resolution also exceeds my expectations. It's IPS bleeding when you have those black images on your screen. Bleeding IPS never bothers me. Most of the games I play on this bad boy are very vivid which does an amazing job of displaying vivid colors and HDR content. (Yes, I understand that this is an 8-bit + FRC panel and the brightness does not exceed 350 nits). This monitor is still very bright, and compared to a 10-bit panel that goes over 400 nits, the difference is between the naked eye (obviously 1000 nits is a lot brighter). Also, there are currently no monitors that can go beyond 4k at over 60Hz. These $2,000 Asus and Acer monitors are automatically downscaled to match the bandwidth of the HDMI 2.0 specification. So in addition to G-Sync, you're giving away money for a perk that can't be used. No firmware update can fix this in the future as it is a hardware issue and not a software issue. Once they release HDMI 2.1 on monitors, the Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ and Acer Predator X27 will become obsolete, which will happen once the HDMI 2.1 specs are already released. These two monitors mentioned are still amazing but not worth the money and misleading.
