Review on Silhouette America, Silhouette Mint Personalized Printer (White) by Denise Davis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very bad experience

UPDATE: After a long struggle with the software and the registration process, we were finally able to register my daughter in the store and start stamp printing. On the one hand, I would give four solid stars. The stamps are very neat and they come out much better than I expected. Kudos to the smart engineers who built and made this kit work. On the other hand, BOY brands are expensive. It seems that very few use cases could be viable for this product. It is a toy or at best a fun adult toy. It's great if you have the disposable income to pay $15 for a very small print of something to stamp your homework when you turn it in. high price to use these stamps. STILL, it's a PLEASURE. We caught the device on sale, but ultimately it's not the stamp maker's price, it's the high price of the stamps that puts you in the red. I'll give it a hard 3.5 stars and I think I'll round up to four on Revain. But just keep this in mind. The stamps are smaller than you probably think; they are expensive. About $15 for a stamp. There are $2/$15 sets, but they don't come with the required wood blocks and I can't figure out what that means for us yet. You could make them closer to $8 a stamp if that works. Looks great! IMHO the development is exceptional. The ink is also a bit expensive, not sure if you can use other inks or not. The software is pretty good. Registration and ongoing fees for design templates are expensive, but you don't necessarily have to. If you have disposable income, they're fun. ------------------------------------------------ -- --------------------- First, tell you a quick background about me. I'm pretty good with computers - I'm a computer geek to most people I know. Technology doesn't scare me and I enjoy challenges. I don't like bad design and bad support. One last thing, I have a 12 year old daughter who LOVES CRAFTS. We have several Cricut devices, but this will be our first and probably our last experience with Silhouette products. The difference between them is a MUST. I will leave an open review here which is subject to change as Silhouette steps in and explains and fixes the issues. But I will be impressed and shocked when it happens. Just take a look. Here is our experience. My daughter earned the award through a combination of good grades, different responsibilities, and behaviors. The Silhouette Mint had been her wish for a long time and we ordered it. Delivery took a little longer but we chalked it up to Covid and weren't worried. It arrived today looking brand new and we were delighted with its fitment. Then it got worse. SERIAL NUMBER. When installing the software, we attempted to register the Mint printer. " with a silhouette. After entering all the required data, we looked at the bottom of the device and found what looks like a serial number. There is NOTHING that could be a serial number anywhere on the device, in documents or anywhere else When we tried to enter the serial number, it didn't accept all letters/numbers. So we tried to guess the last parts of the serial number. For example, if the serial number on the back was like this: 123AB45CD100123. We tried the full number 123AB45CD100123. We tried the last six digits of these numbers and NONE of them worked! So we did a Google search - I recommend you search too. We looked up the Silhouette Mint's serial number and found a lot of comments about serial numbers not working can be entered on the product registration forms THEN I told my daughter let's egg Just click the register later button and we'll take care of it later Let's have some fun with this one. She pulled out a card that was supposed to give her a free month at her design store. The instructions to enter card info were terrible but we persevered. HOWEVER, it's time to create an account. We started the process by entering their name and email address. We entered everything and then he asked us to create a password. My daughter loves animals. She has many different pets, so the password instructions were pretty basic (but annoying). You must use at least 10 characters and one character must be a number. We used Critter2021. Then we had to click all the traffic lights on millions of images to prove we weren't robots. I it said our password is wrong. Not sure why. We tried many variations of different words and numbers, making sure nothing was entered incorrectly - it just didn't work. let's see if it worked or not. We still don't have a registered device and we're not sure how to register it. . Perhaps using the device will simplify the installation / registration process, and then we will like it more. I'm leaving this here for now so people know how upsetting the situation has been for us. I hope you don't have the same problems.
