I got this to replace my Krupps thermographic coffee maker (17" lid). Broken power switch after 24 years. This coffee machine makes good coffee. to make the best coffee. But remember the shelf gap is 21 inches. This means that when the lid is lifted to add water, the height is 21 inches AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS OF USE1. The lid stays in place when pouring. Just watch the video and clip carefully. Attach the lid correctly and simply remove it for cleaning in the dishwasher.2. Don't accidentally press "Clear" when you select 1-4 cups. The forced descaling starts and cannot be stopped. (IF you start the process, remove the coffee/filter and let it go through a forced cycle. The water flows through like Lee did at the Battle of Chancellorsville and the result is an almost watery taste.) 3. If If you have a kitchen with a work station in the middle of the square, you will have no problem reading the clock without a flashlight and avoiding cabinets getting in the way of fully opening the lid.4. As an advocate of caution, I will not be returning this coffee maker. I will adapt, but skip 26 years of using a simple Krupps cone filter, thermal, good coffee maker.
